A transformative decade built on strength
Trustee Emerita and Arts & Sciences National Council Chair Andrea Grant, AB ’71, JD ’74, and her husband, Sandy Merber, have established a $200,000 challenge to inspire support for the Dean’s Annual Fund for Arts & Sciences Excellence for the 2026 fiscal year.
Arts & Sciences Dean Feng Sheng Hu is focused on the mission of the Arts & Sciences Strategic Plan. The plan focuses on multiple pillars, which are all pivotal components to the “decade of Arts & Sciences.” The signature initiatives build on existing strengths to create exciting and transformative new ventures. Each initiative represents a powerful convergence of multiple units, disciplines, and areas of study that will be enhanced through greater collaboration.

Your support of the Dean’s Annual Fund for Arts & Sciences Excellence, especially at Eliot Society levels, provides flexible funding focused on providing scholarship support, advancing research in the humanities and the sciences, launching global leaders, and so much more.
Our commitment to the Dean’s Annual Fund for Arts & Sciences Excellence is about supporting the next generation of innovators and thought leaders at WashU. Specifically, we hope to inspire greater support of the Eliot Society, giving Dean Hu the resources he needs to unlock the full potential of the “heart and soul” of WashU. We live in challenging times; we must meet the moment with confidence, enthusiasm, and purpose.
