Join us in empowering future leaders

WashU is committed to positioning our students for lifelong success.

Preprofessional experiences like internships and research positions are an important part of this effort, often resulting in increased job offers and higher starting salaries. The university aims for every student to participate in at least one career experiential learning opportunity before they graduate. But nearly half of all internships in the U.S. are unpaid, forcing some students to forgo these valuable experiences due to financial circumstances.

The Janower family hopes to inspire others who share a passion for preparing WashU students as future-ready leaders. They have generously established the WashU Career Accelerator Challenge to encourage increased support of the Student Professional Opportunities Fund. Donor support of this important resource will help provide internship or research stipends, allowing more undergraduates to take advantage of opportunities that enhance their professional development and career readiness.

How the challenge works

  • Every gift of $5,000 or more to the Student Professional Opportunities Fund will unlock support, dollar for dollar, up to $500,000 — doubling your impact on WashU students!

Internships play a crucial role in helping students prepare for life after graduation because they give them the chance to explore what they enjoy and discover where they excel. These experiences not only strengthen their job prospects but can also have a lasting impact on the trajectory of their lives.
